SLAVE

SLAVE

I was a slave:

Bound by the chains

Of an invisible spirit

Trapped in a world

Out of my control

I was a slave:

Drugs were my master

Brainwashing me to

Destroy myself

Convincing me that I needed them

I was a slave:

Bound by the chains of what I thought was love

Sex was my master

Brainwashing me to believe I had at last found real love

In the arms of someone I didn’t love

I was a slave:

I was addicted.

Enslaved by immoral habits I thought were the norm

I was lost

I was a slave

Then a man came along and broke the chains

He tore down the walls of addiction

And bore the immoralities I thought were the norm

He made me whole and new

And I made HIM my Master

He alone can give me what I need

He alone can love me with the love I crave

I am addicted to Jesus and

No longer a slave.

  1. Did you just recently write that poem? Were you writing for someone else? Or is there a lot we don’t know about you? 🙂 Good Job though!
